This is the first step in doing a piece,... well technically this here is the second step,..you sketch it out. The first sketch is done very loosely in a neutral grey. It just is done to define areas, mark off spaces, make your mistakes, etc. Just like sketching on a piece of paper before drawing or painting. Here I am going over those grey strokes with a second color, a light blue. The wall itself is a very rich yellow so light blue will pop off that wall. The light blue is the outline that I will follow. There is very little room for error here. The grey will then be covered up by the color patterns.
