"UNTITLED" - This background was done on the interior brick wall of what is now the Institute of Contemporary Art in San Jose. When they tear the building down, the wrecking ball will reveal this right here. At this point I wanted to explore graff colors more. Kinda pushing the idea of just painting for paintings sake. Since I decided not to any letters on this wall, I flexed in the areas of colors. Fading and blending, I added some streaks and fine lines with a paintbrush. I was told at the time that "I wasn't doing graffiti".. I didn't know what I was doing actually, but I asked myself should I listen to the external voice, or do I listen to the internal voice? I listened to the inside one.
